Service Description

Beginner, Intermediate. This is the ideal class for someone who has never painted or struggles with plein air!!! Come join in the fun! 3pm - 5pm - in classroom @ Trackside Studio where we will get prepared. This will allow us to gatherer our materials, prep our palettes by pre mixing paint, and go over the fundamentals of plein air. * Then we will take our individual vehicles to Carrier Park right around the corner* Between 5pm & 6pm we will snack & set up By 6pm we will be ready to capture the "Golden Hour" on canvas Lets wrap things up by 7:30pm and get on road just before dark Workshop Description: A workshop focused on painting el plein air (outdoors on location) to capture natural light, atmosphere, and landscape subjects, teaching fundamental techniques like color mixing, composition, value, and simplifying scenes, suitable for all levels emphasizing learning from direct observation and the environment. A plein air workshop (from the French en plein air, meaning "in the open air") is an educational art session focused on painting or drawing directly from nature outdoors. Unlike studio painting, which often uses photographs as reference, plein air artists must capture shifting light, atmosphere, and moving subjects in real-time. Students bring:Snack/Light Dinner Materials: Tripod or French Easel (brush and mineral spirits holders are helpful) Oil Paint: Titanium White Yellow cool ( Lemon or cadmium light) Yellow warm (Cadmium Yellow) Red warm ( Cadmium light red) Red cool (Alizarin Chrimson) Blue cool (Cobalt) Blue warm (Ultramarine) Phthalo Blue and/or Viridian Dark Brown- Burnt/Raw Umber,Van Dyke, Sepia Palette - neutral gray palette - toned gray or a piece of glass with grey paper works Canvas - 8x10 or 9x12 , Canvas Boards/Panels are easiest 1” and ½” Flat and a medium round brush at minimum. Palette Knife for mixing Mineral spirits in sealed container - metal or glass Q-Tips Papertowels- Viva Brand is the best! Additional items to consider: Bug spray, latex gloves, water bottle, sun umbrella (neutral color), chair, snacks, sunscreen, oil to wash paint off skin (I use coconut oil), something to transport wet painting (pizza box, painters tape and a piece of cardboard larger than canvas) *Please contact instructor prior to workshop

Cancellation Policy

WAITLIST - If a class is full, you may email us at artists@tracksidestudios.com to be asked to be placed on the waitlist. CANCELLATION - If we need to cancel a course due to too few registrants, we will notify you a week before the class and offer you a choice of a full refund or to apply your registration to a future workshop. If we need to cancel for extenuating circumstances (instructor ill, weather, etc.), we will notify you as soon as we're aware and offer the same choice. If you need to cancel up to one week before the class, your registration fee will be refunded or you may opt to apply it to a future workshop.
