Joni Marie Lawler

Raised as the child of a Naval Aviator, I spent time in various countries including Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, Yugoslavia, and Japan. These experiences influenced my perspective, and I began to sketch the places I visited. Currently residing in the Blue Ridge Mountains, I focus on nature’s landscape as inspiration for my art practice.

While my formal qualifications for teaching are limited, I am committed to providing an engaging class experience. My classes involve self-portraiture and mixed media techniques, utilizing a variety of papers and textures to create new compositions. Incorporating flowers into artwork is also explored as a creative technique, adding vibrant and organic elements to mixed media pieces. The learning environment encourages exploration of creative processes and reflection on artistic development.

The Creative Mixed Media Class offers participants an opportunity to engage with artistic expression, explore its potential benefits, and experience hands-on creation.
