Heidi Mayfield Drost

As an artist with a curiosity for the human spirit, Heidi explores abstraction, intertwining familiar natural landscapes and feminine forms with past and present cultural landscapes. Her work is driven by color and texture, creating narratives that express the issues creating turmoil and celebration within human heart and soul. Her work offers an evocative glimpse into the unquestioned patterns of social norms, inviting viewers to reconsider their belief systems through a fresh critical lens.

Heidi has been teaching adult art classes for nearly 25 years. Her methodology guides students on personal journeys, exploring expression and growth through mediums such as acrylic, oil, encaustic wax, watercolor, pottery and monoprinting. By continuously exploring innovative techniques within these familiar mediums, Heidi keeps her teaching fresh and inspiring. Influenced from an early age by her mother, printing classes, and her love of wooden batik printing blocks, Heidi shares this passion in her workshops and classes.
